Changes to Pluralization Input [Temporary]

Dear LingoHubbers,

If you often translate to languages that include more than one plural form, we have good news.

Our new & evolved Editor will be up and running in Q1 of 2020.

One of the incoming improvements that makes us especially proud is the simplified full pluralization support.

This means your translators will be able to switch and navigate between all plural forms of your selected languages with ease and without restrictions in one Text Segment field.

Although the finish line is so close, we’re not just there yet. And in the meantime, we need your help.

As we are working on these changes, we have to keep the old Editor compatible with the new format. All pluralization forms for the Text Segment are now included in one text field, with the following format:

zero:"TEXT"

one:"TEXT"

two:"TEXT"

few:"TEXT"

many:"TEXT"

other:"TEXT"

To better understand what these temporary changes mean for you and your team, please check out the following article in our Help Center.

And if you’re interested in finding out more about pluralization, check out our blog post: Pluralization (p11n) - the many of plurals.

We appreciate your understanding and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Support Team.

Have a great day,

Your LingoHub Team

StringDict File Support

LingoHub now supports .stringdict format and has a better pluralization support!

A .stringsdict file is a property list used to define language plural rules. Each key-value pair in the .stringsdict file defines a plural rule for a specific string. Since some languages have different plural forms for zero, one, two, few, many and other categories, using a .stringdict file can make things much easier.

If you want to learn more about pluralization, check out our blog post on the topic right here.

Note: We will roll out the better pluralization support one by one for the different file formats. Further, the new editor will have a native support for pluralization.
